Giving Teacher Awards
Everyone knows
that teachers work hard but rarely receive the
recognition they deserve.
Many schools hold an annual awards ceremony
for their teachers. Everyone knows that teachers
work hard but rarely receive the recognition
they deserve. Often they are not rewarded
sufficiently financially or socially. While we
may not be able to do much about their salaries
individually, except write our representatives,
we can do much about ensuring recognition of
teachers.
Every year, at most schools, students vote for
the best teacher in each subject and the best
teacher overall of the year. In conjunction with
the schools, students and parents can organize
an awards banquet or special assembly to hand
out awards to these teachers. Validating their
teachers make students feel like they have a
hand in shaping their schools.
Some awards are designed specifically to honor
teachers and other educators. Awards with golden
and crystal apple designs are used across the
nation over to signify excellence in teaching.
Any school can use that design or create a new
one of its own. Awards can be custom made for
specific teachers or schools.
Custom designed trophies or award plaques are
available. A trophy might have an engraved plate
with the teacher’s name, school, and the date on
the base and a brass hand bell figurine on the
top. A plaque might incorporate various design
elements, such as the lamp of knowledge, a
blackboard, a pen and scrolls, or an apple. For
a small class award, a class photo mounted on a
photo plaque could be designed with a wall
mount. The least expensive option would be a
certificate describing the award and the
teacher's accomplishments that could be printed
and framed.
